La Gerla Birba IGT 2012
Fattoria La Gerla, named for the large, old-fashioned, conical baskets that grape-harvesters used to carry on their backs, was founded in 1978. The deep ruby-colored reveals a big, spicy, internationally-styled nose of new oak, red and black currants, and smoke. A wine with lovely black cherry and chocolate character. Full and silky with ultra-fine tannins and a juicy, enticing aftertaste.
