Langhe Nebbiolo Visette Germano Angelo 2013
This 2010 Langhe Nebbiolo displays a dark garnet core with slight orange and garnet reflections on the rim. The powerful and slightly spicy nose offers perfumed aromatics of red and black plum, redcurrant, cranberry and dried cherry woven into aromas of dried wildflowers, fennel, tar, crushed cacao nib, a hint of black pepper and a touch of vintage leather. Medium-plus in body, the palate delivers generous structure, akin to Barolo, with flavors that confirm the nose along with additional notes of wild red fruits layered with mushroom and black tea then finishes with a hint of spice and plenty of grip. Decant for one hour and serve in Burgundy stems at 60-65 degrees or simply wait as this wine continues to evolve in your cellar over the next few years. This wine is beautiful in its youth if given enough air but has the build to age gracefully.
